Kathleen Brown is a dedicated wife, mother to four, and proud 13-year resident of Virginia Beach. She and her husband have a blended family with three school-aged children that attend Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
Kathleen possesses an associate degree from Tidewater Community College and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Liberty University. She works hard coaching athletes, dedicating the last 26 years of her life to figure skating. Having specialized knowledge of this sport, Kathleen has had the opportunity to volunteer at and judge many competitions over the years.
Kathleen's interest in the school board began when the majority voted in favor of asking our City Council to increase taxes for an initiative instead of allocating existing funds within the existing budget. When elected, her business degree will put her in an excellent position to analyze, question, and maneuver taxpayer funds to ensure that the school system adequately compensates its employees, and all students receive a top-notch education.
Kathleen recognizes and deeply respects the invaluable role of parents in their children's lives. As a result of her own struggles with the Virginia Beach School Board, she vows to fight for parents' rights to provide full and meaningful public comment on issues impacting their children and will thoroughly, and openly consider all public input before voting on any policy changes.
