Kathleen is a dedicated wife and mother of four, three of whom are school-aged. She is committed to providing an education that gives every student the opportunity to succeed.
Kathleen worked her way through higher education later in life, earning an associate degree from Tidewater Community College and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Liberty University. She has the financial skills to manage and analyze the school system budget and make sure funds are properly managed.
Kathleen has spent 26 years as an athlete and coach and is a strong supporter of involvement in sports. She believes sports teaches valuable life skills such as: perseverance, time-management, competition, drive, leadership and dedication. Kathleen recognizes that athletics teach strong life lessons that go beyond the classroom.
Kathleen is a living example of the value of preparing for both the college and non-college life experience. Kathleen is passionate about working toward increasing vocational options that lead to strong careers as well as better preparing students for college.
As a wife and mother of four, Kathleen fights for parents’ rights to direct and impact their children’s education. Kathleen recognizes and respects the invaluable role of parents in their children's lives. She will thoroughly and openly include parents’ views before voting on any policy changes.
Kathleen's business degree qualifies her to manage the schools’ $1.1 billion budget. She has the skills to ensure that the school system is responsibly compensating employees and students are receiving a top-notch education.
The School Board works for you. Transparency provides necessary information to constituents and increases accountability. Kathleen opposes any policies which make it challenging for taxpayers to gain access to School Board information or restricts access to meaningful public comment.
